Case Study:
Phoenix Project
The objective in this project was to "To breathe new life into a project from a previous class." I decided to use a project in which I created an projection installment with the branding for a hypothetical Cartoon Network tv series was created and will be announced/revealed at the 2024 San Diego Comic Con.

Proof of Concept
I wanted to create a projection that would mimic the use of the device in the Ben 10 series called the omnitrix. The omnitrix is a device that transforms the main character Ben Tennyson into different aliens and I wanted to create that experience for fans that grew up with the show and influence children of this generation to watch the old shows as well as the new one.

The interactive projection will involve an individual being able to use a control panel that will allow them to view and select the different alien heroes that Ben Tennyson transforms into and when they select a specific alien, they will see a quick montage clips from of the alien's transformation and short action shots from the original Ben 10 series that will then encourage viewers to go back at watch more because they would then desire to see more of these heroes. It also gives existing fans of the show the opportunity to live the dream of being able to transform into their favorite aliens from the show.

PROCESS
The original project brief involved creating a projection that would be projected onto 3D shapes. I also had to come up with a scenario for creating the type of projection that I created so I came up with a hypothetical scenario in which Cartoon Network are created another Ben 10 Tv series that follows the main character Ben Tennyson as an adult and they want to announce the show at the 2024 Comic Con. They want someone to build something that would introduce and
re-introduce old and new audiences to the Ben 10 Franchise in order to prepare them for the announcement and release of the new series "Ben 10,000 Hero of Heroes".

Development for Proof of Concept
This proof of concept is for a projection on 3d objects so it was decided that triangles would be used to as a frame as well as being projected on. The triangle motif is an ode to the rhombus on the Omnitrix when the alien selection process is activated. We wanted to have some parts be contained by the triangles but also break their framing by having the projection come outside of them as well.

Logo Development

For every iteration of the Ben 10 series, the logo has remained mostly the same with slightly altered or additional parts so I wanted to stick with very close to keeping those same restraints for the new logo design for the 'Ben 10,000 Hero of Heroes' series.

Final Logo Mock Up:

For the final design, it was decided that the logo would be of a similar style of the original since hypothetically this new series would have the same design and animation styles as the original Ben 10 series. the "thousand " was simplified to a "K" to give the overall logo a sleeker design similar to that of the show's logos for iterations such as 'Ben 10 Alien Force' and 'Ben 10 Ultimate Alien'. Aspects from the first logo such as the dots within the first iteration of the original Ben 10 logo but used them as an outside element rather than an inside element.

Key Art
As part of the proof of concept , it was crucial that with a logo , should come with a visual for how that logo would be used.

First Pass Animation
In the series Ben Tennyson's Omnitrix only allows him to transform for a limit of ten minutes and when as it recharges, the color changes from green to red. I incorporated that aspect into the interactive projection but made it unique to the projection itself while still keeping an ode to how the Omnitrix works.

Second Pass Animation

Revisions
For this pass it was suggested that I give more individual movement to the logo overall instead of
one simultaneous movement like the previous iteration of the animation.

Final Animation
For this pass, minor alignment issues were fixed, it was suggested that the dial started to rotate faster once an individual would start the activation process. A change that was made included changing swapping the colors of the triangles and dots at the end of the sequence so that they aesthetically match up with the coloring technique of its beginning counterpart.
